chinnanjiru kiliye kannama
7:03 PM Posted by Vijayasri
'Chinnanjiru Kiliye kannama' is one of my favourite of all the songs by the tamil poet Subramanya Bharathiar.
Bharathiyar, when he composed all his kavithaigal dedicated it to his wife 'Chellamma'.
This particular song is titled Kannamma-My child: Imagining Parasakthi as a child he describes her qualities, her moods etc. The bharathanatyam dancers have given it a twist, in that they have created an illusion that it describes the playfulness of Baby Krishna.
Bharathiyar was a great upasakar of Parasakthi, and I believe his inspiration to write these poems was his wife.
A beautiful song with a deep meaning; a song for all who have little daughters.
