tarunam idhamma

'Tarunam Idhamma' set on the raaga Gaulipantu is composed by Shyama Shastrigal , a part of Trinity of carnatic music.
Gaulipantu, is a janya raaga of Mayamalava Gowla which is very beautiful and brings out lots of moods in it. Shyama Shastri's Gowlipantu kriti 'Tarunam Idamma' is perhaps the only exception in which he has adopted Tamil for his expression. He has composed all other krithis in the sanskrit language.

The spontaneous approach of Sastri to Goddess Kamakshi, like a child to its mother could be seen quite clearly and unmistakably in his Sahityas which when sung with the proper emotional approach and understanding.
