The Cleveland Thyagaraja Festival is the largest Indian classical music festival outside of India.
It was first celebrated in 1978 and has now grown to be an 11-day festival with more than 8,000 attendees with 2,000 appearing for the opening weekend. The year 2011 is the Festival's 34th year.
Schedule of Events
The Festival is scheduled, as always, around Easter. This year, it begins on April 21st and continues until May 1st, 2011.
This year being the Centenary Year Celebration for Vazhuvoor Sri B. Ramaiah Pillai, the Festival is dedicated to his memory. The schedule will include several dance programs as well as a few programs that emphasize music as it relates to dance in addition to our usual roster of musical performances.
Ticketed programs are marked in the schedule. Tickets will be available at the venue. You can also make advance reservations. If you will be attending the entire festival, season passes are also available.
