'raghunayaka nee padayuga' is a composition of Sri Tyagaraja Swamigal set on Hamsadhwani raaga.
Hamswadhwani is a very popular raga which is prevalent in both carnatic and hindustani music. An audava raga ( 5 notes in arohanam and 5 notes in avarohanam)derived from the 29th mela Dhirashankarabharanam . This raaga is believed to be invented by ramaswamy dikshitar, father muthuswamy dikishtar.
Swaras taken by this raaga are shadjam,chatusruthi Rishabam, antara Gandharam, Panchamam and kakali Ni. A raaga that deletes Madyamam and Dhaivatam.
An auspicious raaga that is most suitable for singing at the commencement of the performance.
