'raghunayaka nee padayuga' is a composition of Sri Tyagaraja Swamigal set on Hamsadhwani raaga.
Hamswadhwani is a very popular raga which is prevalent in both carnatic and hindustani music. An audava raga ( 5 notes in arohanam and 5 notes in avarohanam)derived from the 29th mela Dhirashankarabharanam . This raaga is believed to be invented by ramaswamy dikshitar, father muthuswamy dikishtar.

Swaras taken by this raaga are shadjam,chatusruthi Rishabam, antara Gandharam, Panchamam and kakali Ni. A raaga that deletes Madyamam and Dhaivatam.
An auspicious raaga that is most suitable for singing at the commencement of the performance.

Mundane life (the ocean of samsaara) is replate with trials and tribulations. To cross this vale of sorrow, I have come to you. O Lord of Seeta! Protector of those seeking refuge! Bestower of joy
